Hello Roybal Learning Center Community,
I would like to welcome the Roybal Learning Center community to the 2017-18 school year. I am honored to be the principal teacher and look forward to the opportunity to work alongside the RLC faculty and staff. This is the start of my fifth school year as principal having previously worked at Downtown Magnets HS and Maya Angelou Community HS. Prior to serving as principal, I have worked as the Local District Secondary Mathematics Coordinator, Westchester HS Coordinator, Local District Math Expert, Dean, Math Teacher and SLC Lead Teacher at North Hollywood HS. Combining my experience and yours with the support of parents and community partners, we will work to realize the RLC mission and vision.
Our mission is to provide a rigorous standards-based curriculum in a nurturing, personalized environment in order to help our students actualize their potential and prepare them to be
successful as college students, career professionals, and citizens.
Roybal Learning Center is a school where all students develop a passion for learning and inquiry, acquire reflective and critical thinking skills, attain a sensitivity and appreciation for diversity, and are able to communicate their authentic voices in the global village of the 21st century.
The RLC vision/mission will serve as our collective operating system that governs all instructional and operational decisions. Our primary focus will be on instruction. As defined by our mission/vision statement and our WASC critical areas of need, we will focus on the following instructional measures.
All instructional conversations and professional development will be aligned with these objectives. Cornerstones of this focus will include the use of department professional learning
teams, collegial instructional rounds and administration-teacher coaching sessions. Our SLCs will emphasize thematic instructional applications. We will reinforce our existing instructional strengths and target our current areas of challenge.
I look forward to the opportunity to learn from each other. I am confident that we can continue to make our school Titan-strong, a place where our graduating students feel confident that we have prepared them to meet the demands of the world they will face.
Please feel free to stop in and say hello, my door will always be open. When my assistance is needed, contact me. Together we will continue to make a difference in the lives of the students of Roybal Learning Center and the community we serve.
